'...Pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'...the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions.'
(excerpt from Lucia's account of the Third Secret of Fatima from the Blessed Mother, July, 1917)
In this period of ten years, there will come to completion the time of the great tribulation, which has been foretold to you in Holy Scripture, before the second coming of Jesus. In this period of ten years, the mystery of iniquity, prepared for by the ever increasing spread of apostasy, will become manifest.(Marian Movement of Priests, #389, Sept 1988)
The Holy Mass is the daily Sacrifice, the pure oblation which is offered to the Lord everywhere, from the rising of the sun to its going down...The Sacrifice of the Mass renews that which was accomplished by Jesus on Calvary...And thus, the celebration of Holy Mass will be suppressed. In this abolition of the daily Sacrifice consists the horrible sacrilege accomplished by the Antichrist, which will last about three and a half years, namely, 1290 days (MMP, #485, Dec 31, 1992).
The "period of ten years" since Mary's 1988 message indicates that the Antichrist would install the abomination of desolation by the year 1998. For the Antichrist to accomplish that, he must take the place of the Pope - the servant of the Red Dragon supplanting the servant of the Woman and her Son. In 1998 Pope Saint John Paul II appointed 2 secret Cardinals, we assume one reason being in case the papacy and Cardinals were attacked (we are told in other messages that the Pope knows what's coming). The Captain of the Swiss Guard (that group charged with protecting the Pope) and his wife are assassinated May 4 by a disgruntled Swiss Guard who later commits suicide; that was a sign that Satan was getting close to his goal. Prayers and fasting are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Rome from May through June. The Pope bravely rides in an uncovered motorcar around St. Peter's Square twice, on May 13, 1998, the anniversary of the attempt on his life in the same place in 1981. The turnout of events demonstrates that the prayers were heard: extra years were given to the Pope to lead the flock, and the daily Sacrifice was preserved. Among the Pope's first words when he visited St. Louis, America in January, 1999 were, "Thank you for your sacrifices". Commentary: 25 years of messages from Our Lady to the Priests (MMP) paid off in this great victory: the reign of the Antichrist, and the Abomination of Desolation, was delayed or possibly cancelled altogether in 1998. If the latter, then the Second Coming of Christ is very near. We must continue to pray and sacrifice in order to mitigate or avoid altogether the evils that continue to threaten us until that time comes. (copyright)
From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days (Daniel 12:11)
So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand)...For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be (Mat 24:15,21)
Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day (the Second Coming of Jesus Christ) will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God (2Thess 2:3-4)
